Michael Dyson

Michael is a graduate of North Carolina Central University, where he earned a Master of Arts in Career Counseling and Placement and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021. Michael graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science. He is currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. In 2021, Michael also participated in the National Board of Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program, which trained participants on how to work with various populations including BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and other underrepresented populations.
Prior to starting his counseling career, Michael worked in both secondary and higher education settings across North Carolina. In those roles, he was able to learn valuable skills to support individuals entering the workforce, creating plans for their futures, and developing their professional aptitude. Michael believes that all clients should be honored and respected in the therapeutic setting. He utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness as well as other unique counseling interventions like gaming therapy and art therapy to support clients’ growth and healing. When Michael is not counseling, he enjoys spending time with loved ones, attending live shows, and exercising.
