Katie McSloy

Katie (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) in North Carolina. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in English with honors from Clemson University and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Winthrop University. Her ideal client is aged 8-25, with presenting issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, gender identity and sexuality challenges, low self-esteem/self-love, relational challenges, childhood trauma, adulthood trauma, and eating disorders. Katie also has experience working with clients who are neurodivergent. She particularly enjoys working with adolescents as they go through the many changes and transitions that come with growing up. 

Katie believes in meeting her clients where they are for a meaningful, authentic therapeutic experience. She views clients as the experts in their lives and aims to create a collaborative relationship in which the client is both supported and in charge of their therapy journey. Katie aims to see clients holistically, recognizing that each individual has their own experiences and circumstances that have made them who they are. Therapy should be a safe, judgment-free zone where clients can be fully themselves, and Katie is there to support each of her clients as unique individuals. Therapy cannot be seen as a “one size fits all” practice, and Katie utilizes strategies from a variety of treatment modalities to meet each client’s needs, including CBT, DBT, and ACT.

Katie practices from a trauma-informed, empowerment framework with the core belief that everyone has strengths and can improve their lives given the right resources and opportunities. She is dedicated to being an advocate for her clients and helping clients advocate for themselves to gain those resources and opportunities to improve their lives. When she isn’t at work, you can find Katie listening to true crime podcasts, reading all genres of books, going to trivia, painting, and hanging out with her five fur children.
