Johnia Murray

Johnia Murray is a Southern woman reigning from the Queen City herself, Charlotte, NC. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), holding a Master of Art’s in Counseling with a Clinical Mental Health concentration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she worked as a graduate assistant, focusing on Learning Strategies and Instruction. She has worked in the field with late adolescence and adults who’ve experienced various life circumstances, suffering from mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, Bipolar I and II, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD), attachment issues, and other forms of trauma- and stressor-related disorders. Johnia is passionate about delivering services from a place of empowerment and empathy, keeping in mind that everyone has the ability and capacity for change. For that to happen, she recognizes the need for safe haven to approach vulnerability with courage and strength. This is formed upon the foundation of an environment aimed at keeping the client first and center to increase self-confidence and worth through self-advocacy. Johnia does this in a way that is compassionate yet firm, so that clients are empowered to show themselves their own strength. In her therapeutic work, Johnia is person-centered, blending techniques from CBT and similar modalities when working with individuals. When working with couples, she uses knowledge and tools from Level 1 Gottman training. When Johnia isn’t in the office, you can find her at the gym with the early morning crew, in the kitchen baking a sweet treat, or enjoying a good book.
