Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Intensive Therapy
If you or a loved one is struggling with the lasting effects of negative and traumatic experiences, Southlake Counseling offers highly personalized treatment in a safe and nurturing environment.
Deepening Understanding and Enhancing Well-Being
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses sensory stimuli such as moving light, gently vibrating handheld paddles, or tones heard through headphones. You follow the stimuli with your eyes, which stimulates your brain while you recall your trauma.
EMDR intensive therapy offers a powerful, condensed approach to healing that can be especially effective for those with busy lives or specific traumatic experiences. This focused method allows you to dive deep into your therapeutic journey, often achieving significant progress in less time than traditional weekly sessions. EMDR intensives provide continuous, targeted treatment, which can be crucial for processing and healing from trauma without the disruption of waiting days between appointments. This approach is ideal if you’re looking to make substantial changes quickly and want a dedicated space and time to work intensively on your recovery.
Break Free from Trauma with Expert EMDR Intensive Therapy
During the first phase of EMDR, you will begin to recall and explore your trauma, as well as help you gain insight into your history. Then, in phase two, you work on different techniques to handle your emotional pain. Next, during phases three to six, you and your therapist set targets and identify three aspects of your trauma:
- A visual image connected to your trauma
- A negative belief about yourself
- Your related emotions and body sensations
Finally, in phases seven and eight, you work on closure and examining your progress.
Our intensives range from 2 to 8 hours in a single day or 6 to 8 hours over a 2-3 day weekend. For shorter, 2-hour sessions, patients may return more frequently. Longer sessions are followed up approximately one month later to assess progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
