Apiffany Gaither

Apiffany Gaither graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and Nova Southeastern University with a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling with honors. Apiffany is a North Carolina board-certified licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC), the Eating Disorder and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RODBT) Team Lead at Southlake. Apiffany’s clinical experience includes an array of services involving day treatment, community mental health, crisis and acute residential treatment, and private practice in both North Carolina and California. As a Maudsley eating disorder-trained family-based therapist, Apiffany is passionate about helping her clients and their families throughout recovery. Apiffany has experience treating anorexia, bulimia, orthorexia, binge eating, and ARFID. Apiffany has trained with the Family Based Treatment Institute and Stanford University and is currently pursuing her certification as an FBT Therapist. Apiffany also enjoys working with anxiety, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and trauma. Apiffany has foundational training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and is a Level 3 Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy Practitioner. Apiffany is also trained in OCD and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) from the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). She focuses on adolescents and young adults ages 10 and over and works with adults. Apiffany utilizes an integrative behavioral approach to therapy that provides each client with individualized treatment to accomplish his/her/their goals. Her approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family-Based Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. She also utilizes Millie, her therapy dog, in sessions with clients.

When not working, Apiffany enjoys spending time with her loved ones and five dogs. She loves stand-up paddle boarding, reading, and fostering dogs with local rescues and shelters.
