Radically Open-Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT)

Southlake Counseling is proud to be the first in the area to offer the Radically Open-Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) program for adolescents and adults.

Radically Open-Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) is an innovative treatment model that has been shown to be effective when working with clients who exhibit rigid responses and emotional inhibition thought to underlie many treatment-resistant conditions. RO-DBT utilizes the foundation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and incorporates Radical Openness to create a life with Openness to feedback, the Flexibility to be able to respond to the demands of life and the ability to Communicate one’s emotions. RO-DBT has been proven effective with Overcontrolled clients; those who struggle with openness, flexible-responding, emotional expression and awareness, and social connectedness. Clients that have been diagnosed with chronic depression, treatment-resistant anxiety, Anorexia Nervosa, Avoidant Personality Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders are all candidates for RO-DBT.

RO-DBT consists of weekly individual therapy sessions and weekly RO-Skills classes.

RO-DBT is designed to be time-limited with the option of continuing treatment after completion of the program.

RO-DBT therapists are encouraged to be “ambassadors” to promote novel behavior, self-inquiry, social connection, and adaptive signaling of emotional expression.

RO-DBT, the latest adaptation to DBT, is evidence-based and has been developed over the past 20 years in the UK, Europe, and North America.  We are very excited to be able to offer this ground breaking therapy to our clients.
