The Southlake Center Addictions Program is centered in the understanding that no two issues with addiction are alike. Your struggles with addiction stem from your own unique history, life experiences, relationships, and family history.
For this reason, your individualized recovery program will always be rooted in your individual assessment. When you first contact us for help, we will schedule an appointment for you with one of our licensed addictions professionals. Together, you will complete a thorough evaluation of your current recovery issues, needs, and goals. From there we will design a recovery program that may include one or more of the following: individual therapy sessions, medication management, DBT-based therapeutic group support, referrals to community Twelve Step-based support groups, and family therapy. You are also welcome to take part in additional therapeutic group support options.
Standard Outpatient Care
Your individual therapy sessions will offer you the safe, private, confidential support you need to get better and stay that way. You will attend individual sessions one to three times per week, and more often as necessary.
Our highly trained expert psychiatrist is available to provide short- or longer-term medication management on an as-needed basis.
Our caring and professional staff is licensed to provide the finest quality family-based treatment. Including family therapy in your addictions recovery program can repair and strengthen important connections with loved ones that can pave the way for lasting recovery.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Group Support
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) was developed by noted University of Washington clinician Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. Today, DBT has a long and well-documented history of effectiveness in the treatment of addiction issues. Our professionals received their training from Dr. Linehan’s Behavioral Tech, LLC, and have many years of solid experience implementing results-oriented DBT-based recovery programs.
The Southlake Center is pleased and proud to offer you the finest in DBT-based addictions care through our DBT therapeutic group support options. In addition to our substance abuse-specific DBT group, we offer men’s, women’s, and adolescent DBT groups.
Each DBT group focuses on skills-building in four core areas: Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. Mindfulness training equips you to take back control over your mind’s thoughts and your reactions to those thoughts. Interpersonal Effectiveness helps you develop assertiveness skills to ask for what you want and need in safe, healthy, and affirming ways. Emotional Regulation teaches you to name and experience your emotions without allowing them to overtake you. And Distress Tolerance cultivates your ability to stay present and focused for each moment of your life regardless of what the day may bring.
A Rich Array of Ancillary Services
As an aid to your continued recovery progress, we invite you to avail yourself of a wide variety of additional therapeutic support groups and activities, including but not limited to Journaling & Self-Expression, Yoga & Movement Therapy, Equine Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Twelve Step-based, as well as experiential therapy for self-esteem, body image, interpersonal relationships, assertiveness, nutrition, stress management, life balance, and emotion regulation.
Transitional & Aftercare Support
While you are still under our care, we will always encourage you to locate Twelve Step-based community support groups to attend as a supplement to your recovery program. Building supportive community relationships can be a great aid to sustained recovery progress once your primary course of treatment has concluded. We are always happy to make recommendations for Twelve Step-based support groups in your area.
